Remote Sensing & Digital Image Processing
With the widespread availability of satellite and aircraft remote sensing image data in digital form, and the ready access most remote sensing practitioners have to computing systems for image interpretation, there is a need to draw together the range of digital image processing procedures and methodologies commonly used in this field into a single treatment. The cost of acquiring high quality satellite image is going down and the sources to acquire it is easier.
We have years of experience in remote sensing, image interpretation, and image classification through projects ranging from a few hundred to millions of acres. We specialize in resource and land cover classification using satellite imagery and we have become internationally known for our innovative techniques and ability to perform highly detailed and accurate land cover classifications in difficult situations.
There are a lot of advantages using satellite imagery in GIS application including time saving, cost saving, up-to-date information, digitally available. We use and support wide range of satellite sources from Ikonos, Quickbird, Alos, Radarsat-1, Landsat-5 and Spot-5.
We use satellite images in wide range of GIS applications development as following:
- Satellite data is an effective tool for water resources management, irrigation planning, and related analysis for watersheds, rivers, canals, reservoirs and dams.
- Satellite images have been widely used for agricultural applications such as crop mapping and acreage estimation, yield prediction, damage estimation from natural disasters.
- Satellite data have been effectively used for land use or land cover mapping to yield fast, high, accuracy, continuous observations, and savings in both time and man-power compared to methods.
- We used satellite data in developing of forest monitoring and management. It is use routinely to study and monitor the forests such as depletions caused by forest fires and illegal harvesting activities, forest time mapping and so on.
- We use newer types of higher resolutions with more detailed satellite data are now being applied for tax mapping, urban area development monitoring.
